13th International Congress of Plant Pathology (ICPP)
19. August 2028 - 25. August 2028, Gold Coast It is with pleasure that we invite you to attend the 13th International Congress of Plant Pathology (ICPP) during 19-25 August 2028 on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. It is predicted that the global population will reach 9.7 billion people by 2050, placing intense pressure on food supply chains. Half of the world’s population will reside in the tropics due to rapid population growth in this region, and tropical climes will have expanded poleward due to global warming. It is therefore apt that the ICPP in 2028 will be held for the very first time in a subtropical zone. We are planning a diverse and stimulating program of talks, workshops, technical tours, and social networking events. Think of any crop and it is likely to be grown in Australia – from apples to mangoes and wheat to sugarcane. There will be congress sessions that cater for every plant pathology interest. August is the perfect time to visit the Gold Coast, with average maximum daily temperatures at a comfortable 22 °C (72 °F) and the skies blue and sunny. There are a multitude of hotel and dining options within walking distance of the Convention Centre to suit every budget. Take a one-hour drive and immerse yourself in world heritage rainforest with some of the most ancient fauna and flora in the world. The Gold Coast in also a launching pad for the southern end of the Great Barrier Reef, just a short plane ride away. Australians are famous for organizing world class events. 18th Deep-Sea Biology Symposium
23. April 2028 - 28. April 2028, Bergen The 18th DSBS will be held in 2028 in Bergen, Norway! This proposal is a collaboration between the University of Bergen (UiB), the Institute of Marine Research (IMR), and the Norwegian Research Center (NORCE), all local key institutions in deep-sea biology research, collectively focussing on biodiversity, ecology, and conservation through large-scale projects. The Bergen deep-sea community recently started the Bergen Bathysphere, a local network also including associates across Norway (including Universities in Oslo, Tromsø ++), focusing on collaboration between organizations. The Bergen Bathysphere includes a mix of early-career and established deep-sea scientists and professionals who are all keen to help make this conference a success. |

ESEB Hub Congress 2027 (European Society for Evolutionary Biology)
16. August 2027 - 20. August 2027, München, London, Göteborg, Istanbul Research suggests that plane travel to and from ESEB events likely contributes >90% of their carbon emissions. Therefore, as a part of ESEB‘s pledge for climate-neutral congresses, the 2027 edition is, for the first time, a Hub Congress. By pioneering the organisation of a Hub congress, ESEB wishes to act as a role model amongst scientific societies. The goal is to establish ESEB as a scientific community that is proactive and innovative in its response to the climate crisis, and to inspire its members to be more mindful of the environmental impact of (academic) travel. ESEB 2027 Hub Congress is set to take place from 16th to 20th of August 2027 simultaneously across four locations: Munich (Germany), London (UK), Göteborg (Sweden) and Istanbul (Turkey) The four hubs will be interconnected during shared livestreamed sessions, local talks and poster sessions will also take place onsite at each location. The format aims to favour local participation and climate-friendly, shorter travel to the nearest hub. |

ERIDOB2026 - 15th conference of European Researchers in Didactics of Biology
24. August 2026 - 28. August 2026, Ljubljana We are delighted to welcome you to ERIDOB2026, the 15th conference of European Researchers in Didactics of Biology, in Ljubljana, Slovenia, August 24th-28th 2026. ERIDOB aims to bring together researchers in didactics of biology from around the world to share and discuss their research and the results of their work. The association was founded in 1986 by Pierre Clément and Horst Bayrhuber and has since organized a conference every two years. It is a great honor for us to hold the most important conference that we have in Europe on Biological Education. We will meet in the historical Roman city of Ljubljana in Slovenia. In 1991 Slovenia appeared on the global political map as an independent country. However, Slovenians laid foundations for statehood more than a thousand years ago. The country’s extraordinary geographical position played an important role in this process, and the diverse landscape has marked the country’s rich natural and cultural heritage, inspired the creativity of its inhabitants, and produced a number of exceptional individuals. We will be hosted by the University of Ljubljana Faculty of Education, which has more than 75 years of tradition. In the current period, which is marked by both a strong expectation from science to meet the challenges of our era and by the discrediting of scientific results, the theme of the ERIDOB 2026 Conference will be “Biology education paving the way for our common future“. We are confident that it will be an excellent opportunity to initiate in-depth discussions with other scholars in the field of biology didactics. We are looking forward to meeting you in Ljubljana! PS: In line with the decision that has been taken at the general assembly in 2022, the official language of the conference will be English. |

ESA Annual Meeting 2026
26. Juli 2026 - 31. Juli 2026, Salt Lake City Ecological research is well acquainted with uncertainty, whether it is uncertainty in measurements, mechanisms, predictions, careers, or funding. However, new challenges arising from digital intelligence (AI), sociopolitical change, post-pandemic career development and engagement introduce new uncertainties and opportunities that affect our professional activities and funding sources. For this year’s meeting, we gather to both continue scientific discourse on innovative ecological research, as well as to develop strategies to best manage these challenges using our collective knowledge and experiences. By sharing multidisciplinary and creative solutions, our community will continue to be resilient and meet tomorrow’s challenges. |

68th Annual Symposium of the International Association for Vegetation Science: Understanding Ecosystems through Vegetation

We aim to highlight the importance of vegetation studies in advancing basic and applied research on the biodiversity of world ecosystems. We welcome submissions focusing on plant communities and related topics, including biodiversity and conservation, climate change, restoration of native plants, community assembly, forestry, functional ecology, macroecology, mycorrhizal research, paleoecology, plant invasions, anthropogenic vegetation, Earth Observation approaches, or vegetation classification. |

19th Annual International Biocuration Conference
20. April 2026 - 24. April 2026, Kapstadt In partnership with the African Genomics Data Hub (AfriGen-D) and the Sickle Africa Data Coordinating Center (SADaCC), the ABI is proud to be involved in the 19th Annual International Biocuration Conference for the International Society of Biocuration (ISB). This is the first time the conference will be hosted on the African continent, scheduled for the 20th to 24th April 2026 in Cape Town, South Africa. The 19th Annual International Biocuration Conference provides a forum for curators, developers, and users of clinical and life sciences data, knowledge, and models to discuss their work, promote collaboration, and foster the community around this active and growing area of research. This conference is organized in part with the International Society of Biocuration (ISB). |
