NFDI4Biodiversity ist ein Konsortium unter dem Dach der Nationalen Forschungsdateninfrastruktur (NFDI), das sich der gemeinschaftlichen Nutzung von Biodiversitäts- und Umweltdaten widmet.
Around 50 partners – including scientific institutions, museums, natural history societies, state authorities, as well as other institutes and expert groups such as BIOfid – pool their scientific and technical expertise to provide a broad service portfolio for handling biodiversity and environmental data and to further develop it in close collaboration with users from research and practice.
The cooperation within the partner network is guided by the understanding that actors from science, politics, nature conservation, and landscape management need reliable data in order to make better contributions to the preservation of biodiversity.
Together, the consortium partners offer the following added value:
- Access to modern technologies and a comprehensive collection of biodiversity and environmental data
- Practical and proven methods and tools for archiving, publishing, searching, and analyzing data
- A professional forum for the secure and competent handling of data intended for broad and responsible use
The partners of the NFDI4Biodiversity consortium are funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) under the federal-state agreement on the establishment and promotion of the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI) of November 26, 2018 (project number 442032008).
